Fairmont Hotel Macdonald
The Fairmont Hotel Macdonald is an eight-story hotel modeled after 16th-century French chateau overlooking the North Saskatchewan River valley from downtown Edmonton.
Opened in 1915, the Victorian-style public areas of the Edmonton Fairmont Hotel include the richly carpeted marble lobby adorned with glass chandeliers, and the Wedgwood Room named for the china-patterned painted dome.
The luxurious guest rooms, renovated in 2003, feature marble baths with deep tubs, sitting areas, and high-speed Internet access.
The Macdonald Health Club and Spa, located on-site has an indoor pool and spa, sauna, steam room and also offers massage service.
Just 100 yards from the hotel is an entrance to Edmonton's covered pedestrian paths linking downtown sites by sheltered walkway.
