Whitehall Hotel

The Whitehall was built in 1928 as an elite apartment building and was turned into a hotel in 1972. Early guests like Katherine Hepburn, Sophia Loren, and Paul Newman helped launch the hotel's long, legendary career.
In the 1990s, a $25-million renovation restored the original character of The Whitehall and raised it to an unprecedented level of modern luxury. At the same time, the decor recaptured a distinctly Old World flavor. The lobby's antique furnishings, floral-print carpeting, and portraits of noble four-legged companions set the overall ambience of an eighteenth-century manor house.
Guest rooms have linen floral coverlets, striped dust ruffles, Chippendale desks, and botanical prints. Bathrooms come with thick terry robes, hair dryers, makeup mirrors, and more.
